Hallo! My name is Kelly. I grew up in New Orleans, LA. I married my husband Billy in Oct 2000 in N.O. We have three children and have moved from Abita, Springs, Louisiana to Stuttgart, Germany. This is something we have dreamed about and it is our first expat experience. I hope everyone enjoys reading about our adventures because I am very excited to share.

Day with Keith in Kaiserslautern

Actual date of this event June 26

When my cousin Keith told us he would be flying through Germany for the day we were super duper excited, only here a month and another familiar face:) Keith is a cousin of mine, by marriage, but I definitely consider him so much more... Anyway, he is a pilot for American but also flys full time with the Airforce AND sometimes has to pass through Germany! Lucky us!
Well yesterday was e big day and since we do not have a car yet we rented one and boy was it nice! An Audi, loved loved loved it, and best part is so did Billy. We woke up around 6am and prepared for our two hour drive to Ramstein Airforce Base to visit Keith. It took us a while because we got a little lost and could not figure out how to switch the navigation to English, well we finally did figure it out but only for the ride home.
Anyway, we arrived and Keith had gotten us all cleared and was able to take us on his plane which was really neat. The boys even got to lay in the area where the guys lay to connect their plane to another midair and fuel them up and of course they were able to sit in Keith's seat , the pilot seat. What a neat thing to do. And the whole family loved it.

Next we went into the town of Kaiserslautern and had lunch, typical German.....Schnitzel and beer, delicious! Then we had ice cream, which we have had everyday since we arrived, it's unbelievably good and I'm not an ice cream fan, but I am now. We also walked around and shopped while the boys, Keith and Billy, had beer.

Keith was pretty tired and it was getting late so we headed back to the base around 5pm and toured the mall. Ramstein is very large, I think it is the largest Airforce base. It was neat to see some American shopping and then we ate AGAIN, but at Chili's on the base. Can't tell you how good that was, some American food, felt like we were back home.

About 9pm we started to drive back and yes, I got to drive the AUDI:) woohoo!! I drove as high as 124 mph and yes was still passed on the autobahn! I was able to put the music up and just drive, others slept! Ahhhhhhh silence

We arrived home about 11 and everyone passed out.

Today was pretty uneventful. Our tv installer came back and we are still without tv, we have so many trees in the way we can't get a signal. He will be back tomorrow though and we will definitely have tv.
Blair went out on her own today with the colonel's daughter, also a senior this coming year. She left around noon and its 930 and she is still out. Yay for her, she needed that.
Billy has been at his baseball game and the boys and I walked down to town for our daily ice cream about 8:30. Good thing we walk a lot or I would be as big as this house:)

Randomness:
My straightener and Sonic toothbrush have finally died due to the voltage differences:( awful for me
